About This Place

If you're searching for an extraordinary dining experience in Detroit that celebrates vibrant flavors and wholesome ingredients, look no further than The Detroit Pepper Company. Nestled at 17180 E Warren Ave, this gem specializes in an inventive menu centered around stuffed peppers that delight the senses and nourish the soul.

The Detroit Pepper Company proudly offers an inspired take on comfort food with a focus on fresh, naturally seasoned dishes that cater beautifully to vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. Their Detroit Stuffed Pepper stands out as a signature item—a perfectly roasted bell pepper filled with a hearty blend of brown rice, black beans, and their distinctive Detroit Pepper Red Sauce enriched with garlic seasonings. Each bite bursts with a comforting yet complex medley of flavors that speaks to Detroit’s rich culinary heritage.

For those seeking something zestier, the Detroit BBQ Stuffed Poblano peppers are a revelation. These peppers are stuffed with a nutritious mix of brown and quinoa rice, stir-fried mushrooms, onions, broccoli, celery, and carrots, all elevated by a smoky, house-made BBQ sauce. The fresh vegetables retain their crispness, creating a satisfying texture contrast with the tender poblanos. Meanwhile, the vegan stuffed pepper, loaded with brown rice, quinoa, squash, black beans, zucchini, and red sauce, offers a vibrant, healthful alternative that never compromises on taste.

Complementing their superstar stuffed peppers, The Detroit Pepper Company delivers a range of other appetizing options such as the Chili Cheese Fries, a delightful indulgence where crispy fries meet a rich chili topping and melted cheese, and the flavorful Cajun Stuffed Pepper that brings a smoky heat to the palate. Their salads, like the fresh and crisp Detroit Pepper Salad and the hearty Detroit Kale Apple Salad, burst with garden-fresh vegetables and perfectly balanced dressings to keep the meal light yet satisfying.

Rice and grain bowl lovers are equally well served with options like the InsideOut Pepper Grainbowl—a generous bed of whole grain mix topped with roasted peppers, black beans, squash, and zucchini—and the zesty Taco Salad Grainbowl, combining quinoa, brown rice, house chili, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapenos, and tomatoes for a punchy, satisfying dish.

One of the most compelling aspects of The Detroit Pepper Company is the genuine care put into every meal. As repeat visitors attest, the food is "fresh," "tasty," and unapologetically made to order, which means a little patience goes a long way. Expect about 20 to 30 minutes for your dish to be lovingly prepared, ensuring each element is just right. Customers repeatedly highlight the friendly and warm service, creating a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and savor every bite.

The dining environment complements the culinary offerings perfectly—it’s not a fast food joint, but rather a destination where food feels like healing and nourishment in every sense. One guest summed it up beautifully: “When you want healing food this is the place to be.” The ambiance encourages you to slow down and appreciate the thoughtfully crafted flavors and textures, making each visit memorable.

Whether you’re a local Detroit foodie or a visitor craving an authentic and innovative taste of the city’s plant-forward cuisine, The Detroit Pepper Company promises more than just a meal—it offers an experience of heartfelt cooking and genuine connection to the community. The passion behind the dishes shines through, making this restaurant a must-visit spot for anyone eager to explore dynamic, healthful, and soul-satisfying fare in Detroit.

When you want healing food this is the place to be. The stuffed peppers are great. But with great food it takes time to prepare some prepared to wait about 20 to 30 minutes but you will not be disappointed. Can't wait to go back to the D

So friendly. The little bit of a wait is worth it! This is not fast food. It is so delicious! Best jackfruit I’ve ever had! And the ginger lemonade tastes like a liquid cookie! If I weren’t just visiting from Florida, it would be a regular place for carry out for me! Thank you. I appreciate you!

My food was amazing for my first time being there. Customer service was just awesome. I loved how she greeted me and how she talked. She was just so sweet and kind but I went at 3:00 PM on a Saturday and the cook told her not to take any more orders they were going on lunch well you should have a sign that says we’re closed from 3 to 4 for lunch and not yell out while you have customers just a food for thought but overall the food was a five out of five I appreciate it and yes I will be back.

Very tasty, and extremely fresh! I had the Bean Burger which is hard to find on many menus, so I was very excited to try. Excellent presentation for a carry-out burger. The Detroit Stuffed Pepper (ground beef + cheddar cheese) is also good. Since it is a vegetarian restaurant, I would only expect things to be “naturally seasoned”. I understand the concept and that is what makes this place unique. Ginger lemonade was a perfect pair with my order.

This place has been on my drop-in list for forever and we made it today! Please note: EVERY dish is made fresh-to-order. So, we had a bit of a wait. Enough of a wait to see the brisk call-in orders coming through. Yup, we should have called it in. But they had a pleasant seating area to wait in. The chef took a 15-min break after us. So glad to see a local small business booming! The original is excellent but that BBQ poblano was just amazing. Poblanos have such a bad rap; they are NOT spice, just a little bit of zip combined with the right friends. And don't let the photos fool you, the portion sizes are nice. Lots of street parking.

Ordered takeout and everything we had was absolutely delicious from the stuffed peppers to the sides They also got a juice bar with plenty of healthy options! We ordered a lot and it took about 45 minutes to wait for, so I would call ahead to order. So much flavor and makes for amazing leftovers. Would order again They are also black and vegan owned with no vegan upcharge (not even for the vegan cheese)!
